The Trade Union Movement in The Lakshmi Vilas Bank Ltd had made a beginning in the
year 1960 at Tirukoilur under the Banner The Lakshmi Vilas Bank Employees Union.
The Union enrolled all Officers and staff as its members.
The Lakshmi Vilas Bank Employees Union signed its first settlement in the year 1962.
At the end of the agreement period, when management took up a position that the
Union cannot negotiate the service conditions of Officers, though they were the
Members, the necessary for a separate Association for Officers had arisen/ felt.
Out of necessity, the Officers Association was formed in the year 1966 at Salem.
The association had signed several settlements with the Management and updated the
service conditions at par with the Industry Level. Its motto is Liberty, Equality
and Fraternity. The Association had put a selfless service, keeping the interest
of the Nations First, Bank next, Self last.
On completion of 25 years of service, your Association had celebrated its Silver
Jubilee function at Chennai in April 1992, along with its Third Biennial Conference.
On that happy occasion, the own building of the Association was opened by the General
Secretary of AIBOC, Sri R.N.Godbole.
Your Association had the vision and is the first private sector bank officers' organisation
to join the AIBOC, the mightiest orgainsation among the Trade Union Movement.
